No one gets a heads up they'll be served - the court process server just shows up, papers in hand. If your callers refuse to MAIL proof that you owe a debt and that they have the legal right to collect said debt, they are owed NOTHING, per the FDCPA. It's also illegal to threaten people with lawsuits to intimidate them into paying a debt. If you're concerned that you may actually have a lawsuit against you, call your local courts and ask them if your name is on any of the schedules. Call your local police - they'll even tell you this is not how the system works.
Advise the callers that you're recording all calls they make to you so your own lawyer (even if you don't have one) can file a lawsuit against them for multiple violations of the FDCPA. Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI, the Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General.

I recieved a call from this company on my cell phone while at work today. They stated my name and social security # have been linked to fraudulent activitiy and I would be served a summons at work or home address. They gave me a case # so after trying to call them back a couple of times, I keep getting an automated system telling me to leave a message.
I first received a message from a "Debra Roberts" (972-715-3097) claiming she had "received an order in (her) office today to verify my address and employment to complete a service and process request regarding several legal matters you are currently being investigated for" and advised that I needed to call 713-588-2647 immediately. She provided a "case number" for reference. Michelle Lewis answered the 713 number and also said I was being investigated for check fraud and asked if I took out a lot of payday loans, which I do not. She also mentioned a bank account, long since closed, and said the debt was from 2006. She didn't even know the original amount! She babbled about speaking to some arbitration person to give me a "settlement deal" if I would agree to pay the the arbitrary amount she gave me with a credit card I told them I was recording the call the said u cant and slamed the phone down I called back and she said if I call back she would call the cops u stuped fuckand slamed down the phone.. This is a TOTAL SCAM!! I The next day I received a call from the 701-491-7809 number and they sent me a text. These people are unbelievable! I'm reporting them to the FTC and have blocked their numbers on my phone. Call the ftc and fbi right away...
I got a voice mail message stating that I was being sued and I was going to be served at either my home or place of employment but i can handle the matter before getting served if I call 701-491-7809. I tried to call the number back and it just wrong with no anwer.
I just received a phone call and they gave me a case number and I just called back and a Michelle Lewis answered and she said that they must of had the wrong number????
