Scam. Automated message claimed they wanted to "lower my credit card interest rates". The recording said "Press 1 to speak to a representative". I did, waited for 2 minutes, disconnected. I love the idea of wasting their time. Thanks. Is there a place to report these criminals?
Database dipping scam. The drones get paid simply for placing the call; anyone connecting to speak with an agent is only icing on the cake, as they open themselves up to a secondary scam.
CallerId4U owns 763,000 phone numbers Oregon, Washington, North Dakota, California, and Nevada. These phone numbers are used exclusively for a telemarketing revenue sharing scheme.
CallerId4U provisions their phone numbers in 3rd party “CNAM” callerId databases. These databases associate a phone number with the caller ID text that will be displayed during a phone call. When a phone call is placed using one of these phone numbers, the telephone company receiving the call must pay a small fee of less than a cent to retrieve the caller Id text from the database. These are called CNAM “dip” fees and refer to the process of “dipping” into the Caller Id database to retrieve the calling name text (CNAM.)
Even though several of these scam operations have been shut down, they continue to surface. Read more here: http://wp.me/p2os5l-1VC
They hang up when freak out or ask not to call again cuz if they hear that said full out. U can take them to court after 6 months if they ever call u again. The do not call list are a joke. I have a prepaid phone so they have no idea that I hate credit cards and banks! So I just scream loudly in the phone and hang up. Lmao I always feel better too. Figured they interrupted my day, pay back is a [***]... ;-)
How many numbers can they use before they finally run out? This is ridiculous already. "This may be your last chance to lower your interest rates...time is running out....this government program may not be available much longer..." They've been calling for 3 YEARS now. Three years of "last chance". Stick a fork in me.
this is a nuisance call and says it is a "second and final" attempt. when you call it back you get a recorded message that call cannot be completed. should be reported to phone company and atty general . wish the phone companies would make it where these crapheads would HAVE to answer all returning calls. might slow some of them down a bit.
