Mike, the caller is a fake debt collector calling from overseas, usually coming from India or Pakistan. These calls have been a problem for several years. The FBI and law enforcement are fully aware of them and where they are but they are untouchable by US Law Enforcement.. There are diplomatic protocol issues in trying to shut down and bring to justice foreign criminals who are safely cuddled in the arms of an uncooperative government that considers them petty thieves and Americans free game for them.

Of course!. It has been reported hundreds of times, even daily, over the past couple of years. But the plain facts are that people will just have to be more proactive in protecting themselves. At this time, the US law enforcement is stalemated by other governments.
I answered the phone and a recording started playing - We have a legal case against you. You will be arrested at your home, work or school. If you have questions about this matter, you can call me at 716-706-0331. See you at the courthouse. The call hung up. I am not going to call them back.
The man talking appeared to have a middle eastern accent.
I got the same call... I answered and it was a recording of someone yelling that I had a legal case against me and I would be arrested at my home or office...... I hung up and called them right back and a woman answered the phone "HELLO!!" and hung up. Second time it went to a generic voicemail.
