Mike, the caller is a fake debt collector calling from overseas, usually coming from India or Pakistan. These calls have been a problem for several years. The FBI and law enforcement are fully aware of them and where they are but they are untouchable by US Law Enforcement.. There are diplomatic protocol issues in trying to shut down and bring to justice foreign criminals who are safely cuddled in the arms of an uncooperative government that considers them petty thieves and Americans free game for them.
'Has anyone reported this?'.
Of course!. It has been reported hundreds of times, even daily, over the past couple of years. But the plain facts are that people will just have to be more proactive in protecting themselves. At this time, the US law enforcement is stalemated by other governments.
Wow! This is very interesting. I just received a phone call with the same message/statement as noted above. It scared me for a minute, but then I new it was obviously some kind of SCAM once I Googled the number. Thanks for your comments and easing my anxiety.
Yeah i had the same call today. It was an obvious scam. I think the same people tried a scam on me last year with similar legal threats. I guess welfare isnt good enough to scam, so they gotta hit up others for chairity.
A lady called me saying that I'm gonna get arrested im like why am I gonna get arrested she didn't say anything. I asked her if this is a scam then she said just wait until a police arrest you then she hangs up
