This is a legitimate number for The Social Security Administration's office in Queens, New York. I received a call from this number and when I answered It was human resources calling to schedule an interview for a job I applied to. This might be the main number rather than the individual extension.
"718-557-3000" is the number that shows up on caller I.D. however, in my case, the call was indeed from social security. the last 4 digits were different for reaching the caseworker directly without going through the operator. if you have applied for disability through social security, this is most likely a legitimate call. call your local office for confirmation if you have any concerns as i did. don't miss out on your approval status.
I received aphone call from the above number on 4-23-12, she stated that she was calling from social security office (on a saturday) and asked me to verify my home address. I immediately told her she is a fraud and i will report her. She disrupted the line and call the number back immediate and the phone sevice stated the number is disconnected. Congress need to go after the companys who are supplying those thiefs with the phone numbers. This is definite contributing to idenity theft
