Ichy is correct - NEVER ANSWER UNKNOWN CALLS - EVER!
THESE ARE CRIMINALS THAT ARE CALLING YOU!!!
NEVER CALL THE NUMBER BACK AND NEVER "PRESS ONE TO BE REMOVED!"
IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE FOLKS!!!
We have the Di*it**e call blocker on all our phone lines.
The Di*it**e is unique in that we can block entire area codes as well as full telephone numbers.
Currently, we have over 210 area codes blocked.
This number has never called us before but because we have the ENTIRE 720 AREA CODE BLOCKED, no matter what number they call from, THEIR CALLS CANNOT RING THROUGH!
OUR PHONES DO NOT RING AND OUR HOME IS NOT DISTURBED BY THEIR CALLS!
Please purchase a call blocking phone or device - they work and they are inexpensive
When you answer and ask them to stop calling, what they are thinking is that they have dialed a working number with someone they can engage and scam. If you piss them off with loud noises, they will retaliate by escalating their calls and sharing your number with other scammers, to show you who's boss. They're predators, you have to think like them to handle them effectively. You will be momentarily satisfied if you offend them, but you will pay for it, and if you tell them to remove your number, they consider that to be a "soft refusal" that will generate more calls to you, as well as calls from new scammer. Don't sink down to their level... ignore the call. Learn to check your caller ID and listen to your call screening feature, before deciding to answer. it works.
... just thinking philosophically about the fact that so many of these kids are in India, a nation that produced great souls like Gandhi, Ashoka and Buddha... the first leader to ever codify and ensure the rights of animals and compassion towards all people... how sad that they behave this way :((
WARNING--BEWARE!! These callers are B I G credit card criminals, known as the card service scammers! Under NO circumstances, give these lowlifes your credit card number, or you will regret it forever!
<<--- laughing... Honey, your congressman doesn't care a whit about anything but himself, once you elect him. In America's system, officials don't have to justify their position to anyone once elected because it's a republic, not a democracy. That political diatribe aside, your congressman will tell you to call your attorney general, who will tell you to call the FCC, who tells you to call the FTC, whose says their job is to "follow trends," not protect citizens... That's what the FTC repeatedly told me last year, when I was being inundated with calls and also, that you can sue them five hundred dollars per call, except that will never happen because the numbers are phished or spoofed or out of country, typically Bahamas or Philippines so the first international digit won't show and you will never trace them. I cynically say the FTC's job is self-perpetuation. You can report the number to DNC if you want, but scammers don't care about the DNC laws and after a while, the amount of time you will spend, report after report after report, will eat up your life and won't help. My humble suggestion, which HAS worked for me, is to 1). turn on your audible call screening feature and listen to see if they start to leave a real message, while 2). looking at your caller ID. This will weed out most of them, if you simply do not answer unless they get screened. If you miss a real caller, you can always pick up while they are speaking, or return the call. I know you're irritated, but don't engage scam callers or sink to their level in any way, they know more than you and are predatory. Also, don't call block them because if you do, they will just use a new number and slip in under your radar again. Better to let them keep using a number you can already recognize and ignore. Checking on this website can give you validation, when you can see that it is a phished or spoofed number. This is much more effective than begging for help from a callous government employee who is only going to play "broken record" with you and send you useless xeroxed sheets. I know that many people today are so attached to their smartphones and Facebook that they cannot imagine a time when you only answered the phone when you wanted to... Learn how. The tactic I suggested has worked for me.
I purchased a call blocker device and now have blocked this number as well as the entire area code. I do not answer calls from numbers or names I do not know and can block up to 1,200 numbers. Any future calls will not ring in my home and will be cut off after their first ring (which I do not hear). In addition, even though they are spammers and will change numbers and names, I still file complaints with donotcall. Who knows, maybe in the future, there will be ways to stop these calls. if they can spoof numbers and figure that out, it can be done the other way around. It only takes a few minutes to file. I also have filed with FTC (on a legitimate charity whose calling practices are out of line).
