Got a call from this number but because it said "unavailable" on the Caller ID readout I didn't answer it and let them leave a message. She said she was calling from my health insurance co. and to to call her back at 800-548-6549. I called this number back at the extension she gave (it probably just connects to her home phone number -- she probably works out of her home). When she answered she said United Health Care but then when she looked up who I was she gave the proper name of my insurance co, so she's calling people who have different insurance companies. She was just calling to check up on a home health visit I had a couple months ago that my health insurance co. does once a year. She never asked for my social security number or DOB. She wanted to know how I was doing with my depression and wanted to know if I needed any help. I said no not right now but she did refer me to a website www.nami.org and said there are community support groups if I need them too. I do not believe this is a scam at all. It might appear that way because she's calling out of her home (I guess) and is blocking her number before she calls out.
Caller only identifed herself as 'from your medical provider'. I returned a call to the 1-800-455 number left on my voicemail and got a message "please enter your password followed by a pound sign" so I hung up.
Got a call this morning from a lady who said she was calling from United Behavioral Health. Wanted to know if a person - no name given - was receiving (a certain type of) services. I told her I could not give her any information about anyone without a release and gave her our fax number. Needless to say, no release has been faxed. I got the impression she was fishing for information.
You are right "bellaloco", this is a legitimate company with a legitimate reason for calling you. In my case they are working for my employee assistance program in doing follow-up for some treatment my daughter had in the hospital.
