Same story here. A man called claiming their was a claim filed and that I needed to contact him immediately. He said that we could settle out of court and it would be over. I assume it is a scam to get my personal information, especially after reading the reports here.
DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!!!
They obviously try to scare you into giving up information.
A man called and left a message for my ex-husband, stating that his client had filed a complaint against him. He provides the address of the complaintant, which happens to be my address. Then he ends the message by saying goodluck. What a liar! Nobody filed a complaint! These collection agencies are resorting to all kinds of unethical practices. I can't imagine he's being paid enough money to debase himself. Very sad.
I received a call from a woman saying that the party she was looking for -first name last name (me) needed to call her because a complaint was filed in Palm beach County against her (me)! I said she wasn't home. She called on my cell number and gave me a 7 digit case #.
This company called my phone today and tried to say that I had committed fraud against a company and that there were federal charges that were being brought against me. Like I usually do when it comes to debt collectors, I lied and said they had the wrong number. They began disclosing personal information such as my last name and home address over the phone to someone they thought was NOT me. That can't be legal can it!!?? I just can't believe that they would give personal information on me to just anyone over the phone. What if it had been my employer?? These people are ruthless and vicious. DO NOT TALK TO THEM!!!
