I received a call on 9/6/13 at 9:42am, CDT, from someone with an Indian accent identifying them self as "Microsoft Technical Support," stating that they "had received several error reports from my computer on their monitoring software indicating that my computer was about to crash, and he wanted me to go to my computer so that he could guide me through a "fix."
I asked for his number, so that I could call back to verify the source of the call. He repeated the urgency of the matter, but refused to give me his number. I asked for it again, and he hung up.
I checked my caller ID and found the number was 786-375-9110. I called this number and the same person with an Indian accent answered, as being "Microsoft Technical Support."
I entered the number into a Google Search and found numerous sites and links of complaints and reports of phone abuse, including threats.
Just listened to voice mail from Anderson Law Firm, guy named Andrew Johnson and that I was being sued. I don't owe and pay day loans. I live in Arizona where they aren't even legal
Received a call from Curtis Hall claiming I owed Cash Advance of America a payday loan and that I was going to be arrested. When I told him that this was not how debt was collected nor did I have a loan he called me a [***], [***], prostitute, [***], said [***] you numerous times and told me to stick my phone up my [***]. He said he was calling my employer to tell them I was an offender, I said ok, my boss is standing right here want to talk to him? He then said I would be arrested. I laughed and said okay I will be waiting for them. Doing research on Cash Advance of America has had over 500 complaints filed as of 04/2014. This is a scamming joke, don't fall for their crap and even if the debt is legitimate they have to follow the law and you can not be arrested for a civil issue, which a debt is.
I also received numorous phone calls from a guy with Indian accent with this # and claims he call from Attorney office and wanted my lawyer to call them back...iam not sure how to make them stop. they called 2-3 times aday..
Today, Memorial Day, after several days of telling them that my spouse was out of town I finally was fed up. I informed them, again, that he was out of town and to stop calling my phone. He first said that he was from Anderson Law Firm. I told him I had looked the number up and knew it was a scam, he then told me he was from the civil court and my spouse was in a lot of legal trouble in Florida...he hasn't been there in 4 years. I admit I became quite rude and cursed him out but this man with the Indian accent then said F**ck you, you f**cking [***]...s**ck my d**ck....I fortunately had it on speaker and my 23 year old son took the phone and went off and got more cussing beligerance! Why can't these scammers be stopped from bothering innocent, hard working people? Tomorrow I will contact the Ohio Attorney General! The number is 786-375-9110
Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so. Its hard for them to track the extortion scammers what with spoofed numbers. So the call blockers are usually your best defense. However, you should report them..
