Caller ID says "Test". I did not answer the call, and they did not leave a message. They never do. I blocked the number but they are just going to call from another number in a day or so. Geez we will never get rid of these creeps.
Thanks for the info. TEST just called but I didn't answer. As soon as I saw all of these complaints, I immediately call-blocked them so they can't bother me again, at least not from this number. I bought and set up the CPR V202 Call Blocker 2 weeks ago. So far I've added 14 numbers, plus the machine itself can be programmed to block calls based on overseas area codes, no caller IDs, etc. Great little machine!
That's all sounds great, but the majority of the notorious scammers and worst offenders know they are violating the law and, if asked, will give fake names, addresses and spoofed caller ID numbers and many operate their calls centers outside the U.S. (even if the caller ID indicates otherwise), or they will just hang up when you start to query them so it's very difficult to get legitimate identification info from them. They may be criminals but they aren't stupid.
That sounds great, but they frequently change their spoofed numbers, so blacklist blockers aren't very effective in the long run. Even when the call centers are located outside the U.S., they spoof the number to look like it comes from within the U.S., thus blocking overseas area codes will not work the majority of the time. I have a Sentry 2 screener/blocker that solves those problems -- never had a scumbag caller bother me, not even one time, since I installed it on my landline over 4 months ago.
