Lady named Crystal from the "Office of CRA" and referencing a certain number. Said she didn't know if I was aware of the situation but she needed me or my representative to call her back immediately. Gave call-back # 877-704-9452. Called on my cell. When I googled "Office of CRA" I found a bunch of messages with a similar phone number, except for the last digit. Everyone says they got the same kind of message. Some say the person was threatening & had their SSN. I figured it was a bill-collector & I should call them, but now I wonder if it's not a scam.
I received a call from this number on my cell phone--which I never give out the number to except to friends and family. I let the call roll to voicemail and when I checked the voicemail there was just "on-Hold" music with a message that a represetative would be with me shortly. Well not soon enough as my phone hung up on them. I then googled the number and found this site. Will continue not to answer if they call again or answer with something like someone else suggested, "DOmino's Pizza, can I take your order please?" But if you read these boards and several others, this looks like a fraudulent debt collection agency that tries to scam money off of people for very old and beyond statute of limitation debts or non-existent debts they hope you are concerned about and will give them your info...DON'T TELL THEM ANYTHING.
I received 2 calls from this number with no message left but only received them one day after filling out an online loan application for the Montel Williams loans. I think it's interesting they have some of your information given in other replies that is used on the loan app.
I got a call from the same number. He called me cell phone first which just listed the number. I didnt know who is was so I didnt answer it. Then about 5 minutes my house phone started ringing from the same number and it said D Johnson. I had no idea who it was but figured that it must be important or someone that I knew since they knew both of my numbers. I said hello a couple of times and when I was getting ready to hang up he said hello. When I asked who it was and what they were calling for he kept asking if I was Shana -----. Which is my married name from a previous marriage. I told him it was and he got rude asking when I was going to pay him. What the hell are you talking about guy? I dont owe any money to anyone. I asked him who he was working for and that I wanted to talk to a manager and he said he was the manager. He told me that I got a payday loan in Virginia Beach and he wanted me to pay it now or they were going to take me to court. I told him that I have never got a payday loan and he insisted that I pay him. I told him that I thought he had the wrong person and I wanted to know some information on why he thought it was me. I asked what my birthday was and the last 4 of my social and he told me it was none of my busines. Really? Ok guy, I already know my information. Then he really started going off then. I yelled---You are a scammer! Then I hung up. Now he is calling from some 800 number. When I answered the phone and heard his voice I wanted to reach thru the phone and choke the stupid out of him. Still calling a couple times a day. I am glad that I found this and know for sure that its probably a scam.
I got a call from CRA, the last four of the number were different but it is the same company and they left a nasty voicemail with some kind of number, saying they didnt know what was going on talking very rude and threatening. I am going to report the company because I do not take calls like that, threatening me. It is illegal for collectors to act this way and it violates rights, you can look up your rights. This is very unprofessional behavior whether trying to collect a debt or not. Respect is maybe a good idea.
