I am a telecommunications expert. Since VoIP technology has emerged these problems have become alot worse. With alot of VoIP carriers they allow you to CHANGE YOUR CALLERID to ANY NUMBER. By doing this you can call someone's number and when it goes to voicemail your able to listen to other peoples voicemail without a pin number. Also your able to spoof your number to be whatever you want. You could appear as 911 .. You could appear as a local police department... Anything with a number can be falsified. If you dont know who is calling you A. Dont answer B. Dont confirm who you are C. change your voicemail setting to require a pin number -no matter what-
Serious advice for those who don't want these calls!
They keep calling I don't get it, they must enjoy me bad mouthing their moms and sisters.
I believe for these people to know us by names and know our numbers, they must have breached our accounts at Microsoft. It's the only place where my name and number along with my email are stored in one place. Microsoft should look into this they are certainly breached by these scammers and now they are trying to scam us with info they got from our Microsoft accounts.
I received a call from an Indian man at 878-286-0398. He stated that he was with Microsoft and that they had received a message from my computer that it was being hacked. He asked me to sit in front of my computer and he would instruct me on what to do. I thanked him (twice) and told him I wasn't worried about it. I hung up. I wasn't worried about it because my computer is currently out for repairs.
A short while later I called him back and told him that I was from Microsoft and that we had received a message from a Mr. Anus' computer that he was being hacked and that he should meet with Ben Dover at Microsoft asap. He didn't understand.
