Oh my God! I am sooo glad I Googled them...they left me a message today too, telling me something was going down at noon tomorrow in my little Valley of a town here. Also, wished me good luck in a tone that made me think I was headed for the gas chamber! They have also called my parents too...this is sooo illegal it makes me sick! I wish there was a way we could stop these people. Yeah, I would think I'd get some kind of official letter telling me that I needed to be somewhere tomorrow at noon.
OMG... This guy has called me 3 times in the last week. I told him that I would deal with payday load company directly and he told me " you better make arrangements for myself " and that someone would be here tomorrow. I live in Ohio and I am pretty sure that they can't do this. I told him I would pay the loan company in 2 weeks and he told me it was unacceptable. I am so done with this company. Can they send you to jail for this in Ohio?
I GOT THE SAME CALL TODAY DUE TO THE FACT OF A PAYDAY MAXX LOAN . THEY SAID THAT I SHOULD PAY ASAP OR LEGAL ACTION WOULD BE TAKEN UPON ME BUT WITH ANY OTHER COMPANY SUCH AS CAPITOL ONE CREDIT CARD THEY BEGAN TO SUE ME AND SENT ME INFORMATION IN THE MAIL. THEREFORE I PAID IN FULL , SO I KNOW I NEED TO PAY THEM BUT DONT THEY HAVE TO SEND INFORMATION STATING WHY AND WHO IS SUING M E
I am so glad I looked this company up before I sent them any more money. I already sent them $200 because the guy who called me said the same thing about taking legal action and I had untill 5:00 to call them back and let them know how much I could come up with. The # I was called from was 866-612-1284 Ext. 236. I think I will hold on to the rest of my money for now untill I talk to my lawyer.
This company is a collection agency for a payday loan company, and they obviously have no regard for the guidelines set forth in the fdcpa concerning prohibited collection teqchniques. Making idle threats, taking an abusive tone, and calling repeatedly - all violations which can cost them $1k a pop. Next time they call, record them; keep them on the phone and record the conversation. Submit the recording and a complaint to the FTC. Most people do not know they are protected from this type of behavior, and that's what these scumbag collectors bank on. Here's a link with info on the FDCPA:
The FDCPA applies to all 3rd party collectors, not the original creditor (company who gave you the loan/credit). So, this collection agency has definitely been violating multiple sections of the FDCPA.
