One's best response, is no response. Just ignore the call.
Many of those who work as Debt Collectors are not polite because they are not Boy Scouts and/or Girl Guides. They are mainly a downtrodden lot, and their ranks include ex-convicts, drug addicts, 20-somethings without high-school diplomas and a variety of other hard-luck cases.
Oh, my gawd, they are like thugs. However, the more clean-cut types simply can’t get the job done. So don't expect that debt collector, who is calling you, to be nice!!!
A man whose name changes from sunny, vincent and mark(i kno it is the same person i always speak with since his voice is distinct) calls regarding an unpaid debt to Telus Mobility. On many occasions he TOLD me to borrow money from my family and friends or get a loan from Wells Fargo(and to speak to a man named Ron or a woman named Jennifer) to pay off my debt with them. Also says I will not be able to get a job if my wages get garnished. Constantly threatens legal action. I spoke with him today and asked to talk to Brian McNulty (the lawyer) directly. The name changer said Brian McNulty just left the office and will try to get a hold him. One minute later I recieved a call from Mr.Name Change saying that he just caught the lawyer(Brian McNulty) before putting my file through the system at the courtroom(Brian McNulty must be SUPER fast.) I also received a letter from Mr.McNultys office. But there was no real information on how to get a hold of him directly and there is no indication on which company he works for. Plus the signature is two very childish scribbles. All of this seems rather fishy to me
Received a voicemail from 'Angela at CBCC' who left a message for a friend of mine. Other number lookup websites state that CBCC is actually Credit Bureau of Canada Collections. Note the name which could easily confuse people who don't know much about either credit bureaus or collection agencies.
Not sure why they called me, looking for my friend. He has used me as an emergency contact for health-care issues (ie. Admitting into Emergency Dept at local hospital) but he would never give out my phone number for anything associated with banking, credit cards or loans. He was a victim of credit card fraud with both Rogers and Vonage in the past - he has had a huge amount of trouble trying to get his credit records corrected.
These collection agencies are evil - they will use any possible connection to try to collect on the 'debts' they have purchased.
They kept calling several months by computerized voice. I told them I never knew the person they were looking for. These evils won't listen to you. I had to give up calling back. Just let them waste their time.
last week they phoned my wife and said they were from rogers company and asked my wife's d.o.b., too bad my wife believed them and told them them the real d.o.b., then they said just need to verify my wife's d.o.b. on file and then hung up. don't know what they were up to.....
