One's best response, is no response. Just ignore the call.
Many of those who work as Debt Collectors are not polite because they are not Boy Scouts and/or Girl Guides. They are mainly a downtrodden lot, and their ranks include ex-convicts, drug addicts, 20-somethings without high-school diplomas and a variety of other hard-luck cases.
Oh, my gawd, they are like thugs. However, the more clean-cut types simply can’t get the job done. So don't expect that debt collector, who is calling you, to be nice!!!

Wrong! We're battling one of these parasites right now over a Bell Canada bill. We don't owe this money and never did. We're in the fortunate position of having PROOF that Bell, in fact, owes us. That hasn't stopped the collection calls and letters. These companies operate on the philosophy that a large number of targets will just give up and pay.
Why is this allowed to happen? Rather than just fining these companies for their misdeeds, why are winding up petitions not pursued? These scams are perpetrated on a far larger scale than all the Nigerian princes combined.
If I had your name and address, I could send you a bill for $4783.48 When you didn't pay after 60 days, I could sell it to one of these scum suckers who would pursue you relentlessly. What recourse would you have? How could you prove that the bill was fraudulent? Oh, I know. You could come on a forum like this and complain. And some illiterate moron would reply "Well maybe u guys should pay ur bills, u woulnt have these people (who are doing their jobs) calling u anymore"

I'm glad my smart phone let's me easily block these calls, I ended my 7 year service with TELUS only to be instantly harassed by there collection dept. Well locked into a contract where my monthly charges of a standard phone was the same as paying for a data plan on a 3g smart phone. I told this [***] he could expect me to pay in increments as I get paid. I guess he didn't like my tone. He was very rude an put me on third party collection right away. I gave this company thousands of dollars and they repay me with this obnoxious and abusive behavior . Why the hell am I going to pay some jerk who calls me to ruin my day just because its his job. Capitalizing on people who trust they are being treated fairly or who lack in abilities of remembering or understanding they are being charge exorbitant amounts of money . TELUS we care ? Or tell someone who cares ? B.c. tell gone TELUS corporate monsters shame on you , just like the banks who take money from the elderly and disabled.
