Caller ID was "FINANCIAL CTR". Message left was about: "reducing credit card interest rates to as little as 6% if I owe at least $3000 and one card is in good standing."
I just received & missed call from this number, called back because I am expecting a call from a number I don't know, and very friendly recording told me it was marketing call & to press 1 to be removed & to wait 24 hours for it to go thru their system...will see what happens
Do not even answer your phone let alone talk to these people. A friend of mind got caught in this scam, gave them all of her credit cards numbers and security questions, etc and now in a real identity theft mess. They ran up bills etc before she could cancel her credit cards, getting calls from others. Lost some money out of her bank account, she and her husband both thought these people were legitimate, they are so smooth and caniving. Don't try and be nice to them, just DON'T answer your phone. They robo call in other words random numbers programmed into a computer and just dial and dial and dial, use fake phone numbers, they are scum crooks, DON'T talk to them. They are NOT affiliated with any credit reporting bureaus, they are CROOKS!
Let them call. Unless I recognize the caller, I simply don't answer any more. If your cell phone company dings you a minute for a voice mail, discontinue the voice mail service and associate your cell phone number with Google Voice (GV will even text you a transcript of the message that these callers won't ever leave you). Legitimate callers leave messages. Admittedly, some of the robocallers now leave messages, too... but deletion is only a click away. Anyhow, I think Rachel has a delightful voice (wink). I imagine her as an intelligent, witty college senior who just needed a few bucks and made a bad decision to do voice work one evening while worrying about the rent. Oh, what a slippery slope that was! First it was a lower-your-interest-rate recording, then it was your-car-warranty-has-expired. Now she's living in a railroad flat with eight other girls on the grimmer side of town, able to afford Good Will only when she's lucky, and telling you how worried you'll be when your aged mom has-fallen-and-she-can't-get-up. It's a sad story, truly. And she smokes like a chimney, now, too. She will ruin that beautiful voice. Pity poor Rachel and all the other young women like her who fall into the clutches of evil telemarketers. Your donation will help these poor women...
