I got a call today from 972-000-000000 Yes it was 6 Zero's the number was odd so I thought I'll answer it see what happens...I got a guy with an Indian accent on the other line and I couldn't understand who he was asking for at first and finally said he most have the wrong number he asked if my phone number was ....and I said yes it and then he asked for my name and I said my name...and then he said he was form some sort of law office and was calling to tell me about my "cash settlement" Alarm gongs Immeadatly went off in my head at first I thought it was a telemarketer just trying to get me to buy something send us this or buy this and we'll send you money...but the more I've thought about it the more shady it seemed...I made some excuse though told him I really wasn't interested right now, asked me if I was sure and I said yes I have to go to work...at which point he very politely said ok thanks you and hung up...this also seemed kind of odd to me...makes me wish I had played along a bit longer so I could get more info, has anybody else recieved anything similer?
Called provided detail information of a refinance with Countrywide that I dropped due to being offered new loan terms not much better than the original predatory loan terms that would cost me over $6,000 in "paper docs filing" fees alone the balance would have shot up and I would have ended up paying even more in interest than I would be saving on the monthly mortgage payment restarting at 30 years. The called also had some of my information, the called wanted to me to reconsider and offered a better deal and would call back in 20 minutes. Never called back.
Got a call on my cell phone. I answered, stated my name, no reply, then line went dead. I had called Countrywide an hour earlier regarding refinancing my home, so it's likely that recent call was related....
I got a ligit call from Country Wide Mortgage with this caller ID. We deal in taxes and they had questions about properties in our jurisdiction. I don't know if the number belongs to Country Wide or if it is used as a general "hide my phone number" service.
