Have been getting calls and missing them for more than a week. Called the number back and it sounded just like my AT&T voicemail. It asked for my phone number, and I entered it. Then, it asked for my voicemail password, and that's when I hung up. Seems to me that someone may be trying to steal my phone account so they can use it themselves.
First vm did not make any sense, very garbles, said I needed to dial 1-800-something if I wanted to activated my account with some phone network. The second time caller ID identified call as from Texas, and said I had a collect phone call from a local county jail. To accept press 1, to decline, press 2. After pressing 2, I got the same message as the first vm saying I needed to call that 1-800 number again to activate my account with some phone network. Hung up. Do the feds ever check out web sites like this?
Received calls from this number on 1/29/08 and 1/30/08 in the evenings; missed both calls and they did not leave a message. I don't know anyone in a county jail... I guess I'll see if they ever call again.
