This number 9729614040, called my number to tell me there is a lawsuit against my mother Heidi Davidson with a claim number pending, 201634595 with a final notice... thank you, please have them not call me!
I was just getting similar calls - but from a live person - that action will be filed against me if I don't call or pay within 24 hours.
I filed a claim with the FTC on them, and will on these people too.
First time called today. These types of scams spoof with a number in the area code of the phone called. I have no idea how they are successfully committing the fraud because no one answers the phone to take my credit card number. Not only is it a scam, they are very bad at it.
I too have been receiving these calls for months. The call will come up initially as a local area code then the message says to contact within 24 hours or a law suit will be filed. They do NOT give a name of the person they are trying to reach (1st red flag) and they say to refer to a reference number and have my attorney contact them at 972 961 4040. (2nd red flag) Sometimes the call comes from an Amy O'Neil others is a man with no name given or name of company (3rd red flag).
I will not answer calls if there is no identifier on caller ID of the company but now they are using I believe burner phones to initiate these calls to refer them to the 972 number. Fortunately I have more knowledge than most regarding this kind of thing and I don't respond but to most people this call can be very scary and threatening. The one time months ago when I took the first call I was threatened over some account my ex daughter-in-law had opened in my son's name after they divorced and she renigged on the payments and they were trying to get his information and mine telling me I would be held responsible as I had co-signed. I told them to take a flying leap as I had NEVER co-signed anything for her and this account was fraudulently opened and for them to send to me (VIA my PO Box as I would not give them my address) a signed copy of the document they say they have with my signature and I would turn it over to our local State Police and they hung up on me. So do not let them bully you if you answer they must identify themselves and if they say they are collecting a debt just say you owe no one to remove your number and hang up.
Same BS - they called from 408-740-6395 (also a bogus number) and threatened me about some bogus legal action. I'm an attorney - there is no way somebody who needs to serve me can't find me. NCI Recovery Group? Pure SCAM.
