Have received calls from this number on several occasion say that they are with Windows. THIS IS A SCAM. They try to gain remote access of your computer to hack your information. They tell you that they are getting error reports from your computer and need remote access to fix it. DON'T DO IT. Windows is a Microsoft product and; after a chat with Microsoft corporate; understand they Microsoft will NEVER INITIATE contact with you unless you specifically request contact. BLOCK THIS NUMBER! Also they have called back within minutes with a call that has no caller ID. It's the same demons.
Sorry that your computer has been compromised. Hopefully you have all the really important data on paper, or maybe in a very old backup.
Remember to contact your financial institutions, just in case the hacker got your passwords. Change all passwords NOW, from an uninfected computer (do not use one at a library or other public place). Also contact anybody on your Contact List, to tell them that they may receive strange emails from "you", and you are not in jail in South America, and need money to post bond.
And, DaFox's suggestion is correct. If your hard drive is infected with too many or too deep-seated nasties, it is best to have the repair shop try a low-level reformat and reinstall your operating system from a CD.
Have gotten several calls from this NY number as well as others, never answered and no messages left. I have finally gotten a Sentry brand Call Blocker version 2. Have not had a single scam call get through since installing it. A well spent $60.00. Garbage calls went from over ten per week to nil.
Man with heavy Asian Indian accent called me and said he wanted to "renew" my prescriptions for me. Said he was from
Global Pharmacy, 888-709-0957, ext 8016, his name was Daniel. I asked how he got my number and he said my pharmacy had given it to them. (Number he was calling from was 718 658 7748.)
Its a scam. A man with an Indian accent. Called said he was from Microsoft and wanted me to give him access to my computer. I'm a computer administrator and this idiot wants me to give him access. Not going to happen. He has called several times.
