I got a call from a guy calling himself Officer Steven Smith, he told me I needed to call him back or have my attorney call him back. I thought it was just a prank and ignored the calls. I got about 7 in a row. I called him and he went on with some bullcrap about I owed US National Bank 500.00. I knew I did not so I told him he was a lier and hung up. Then he calls again and my daughter answers the phone and he tells her that I'm going to be arrested and we are in danger. It took a lot of convincing for me to get my child to believe this was a scam. The law was suppose to come pick me up he said in two days, Its been 60 and I'm still waiting for the law. I dare he scare my child like this, he can kiss my double cheeks but when you mess with my child you have to pay. He will pay, sooner or later, he will get whats due him.
EVERYONE BEWARE, DON'T SEND THIS DEVILS ANY MONEY. TELL THEM TO SHOVE IT!. Report them to the Police, FTC, BBB, Secret Service and your state's attorney general
Wow.. I just got the call last week and they have been bothering me ever since. Telling me I am going to be charged with theft by deception and stuff like that. They told me the name of the payday loan company and it is one that I used, and have not paid back.. but they haven't been trying to contact me directly yet either. Is this really a scam, and if so how should I go about reporting them?
This is actually a response to all of us VICTIMS of this STUPID SCAM! I actually got a call AT WORK last Friday from a 714.409.0228, from a "Peter Brown" who asked if I had retained an attorney, that I owed $5,400+, excluding whatevers bail amount that would occur, that some legal affidavit would be downloaded the next day, that garnishments through my employer would happen, the whole nine yards...good luck...etc... I told Mr. Brown that I would call him right back and he gave me the same 714 number mentioned earlier of which I called but the number was busy and later in the afternoon - disconnected. Yesterday morning, I received a voicemail from a 201-234.2451 from the same person and this morning again. This morning though, I was able to get through to them and asked for their physical address, name of the company and principal's name. This time though, when they asked for my name, I gave a fake name and phone number and asked for Peter Brown. A guy name "Daniel Bush" also answered their phone. He told me that the name of their company was Crime Monitoring Center located at 1432 Hoffman Lane, Campbell, CA (...and I had the guy spell out every letter out for accuracy). He also said the main principal of the company was a Jonathan Davis. Take note: Get on www.zillow.com and search for the address. It's a home on MLS that recently got sold! I just left a message with the agent that sold the property and said that that address is being used by some debt collection scammers.
I have a sibling that works for a very legit debt relief and consultant service company and I had him listen to the messages. He even called back the numbers I received. He said that these people are major scammers. Don't be afraid of them. Report them to the Federal Trade Commission and your Attorney General's office. They are obviously out of some call center in a country famous for just that - cheap labor and call centers - starts with? "I" (You guessed it right.) Some people reading this might think I am "disciminatory", but guess what - I'm of Asian heritage myself!
I keep getting calls from this number for National Payday. I did have one with them, but due to the fact that internet PDL's are illegal in Va., the fees and rollovers MORE than paid the principle. That was all I was obligated to pay as you cannot collect on an illegal contract. I Also filed complaints with State Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission, IC3 and the FDIC. I am ignoring them. I wish they would come to Va and meet me in court. They may be sorry they did. Hang up, block the number. They can't do squat. IF they could, they would present themselves a little better than sounding like a boiler room in another country.
Told me I owed money from an old loan. They knew my bank account number. They told me my court case was tomorrow at 'the court house'. They told me I could settle with them! I don't have an old loan! They ultimately wanted money.
They just called me and said the same thing. I was looking for a payday loan on one of those sites that will match you with an approval. They had to have gotten all the info from that. Scary...I am changing my bank accout number. Just letting you know you are not the only one. I googled the phone number and saw your posting. Good thing, I was acutally on the phone with them.
