Lady called asking to speak to manager, said her name is Rachel. Lots of background noise and bad echo on phone. Everything I said would echo back. She wanted to know who orders parts, manager put her through to directors voicemail. She hung up and tried calling back 2 minutes later. Not sure if scam or not, but if it looks like a duck.....beware!!!!
I cannot remember the womans name that called but she asked to speak to my boss by a name that he doesn't use. It is his name but not what he goes by. I asked for her name and she gave me a first name only (I don't know about you guys but when my name is asked and this is business, I give my full name and give you the company I am with and as a bonus, I tell you why I'm calling) then I asked for the company she was with and she tells me Horizon. So then I ask what the call is pertaining to and she didn't answer so I asked if my boss was expecting her call. Her reply was "Well I hope so!".... Ummmm My reply was "Ma'am, is this a sales call?" Her reply "No, I just sent him a book" My reply "I'm sorry ma'am, he does not accept sales calls, please do not call back." With attitude I get "This is not a sales call, who is this? What is your name? You don't know your name?" So I just hung up.
She calls back.... This time my boss now knows about her so he decided to answer the phone. She was MAD and was complaining about how rude I was to her. My boss basically said ok ma'am, I understand what you are saying about my secretary but what exactly are you calling for and who are you with? She then said she was with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield and she was sending a claim. All while still complaining about me. When he asked who the claim was for, she told him that if he would have taken the call earlier, she would have given him that information. It was just ridiculous!
So she never gave anyone any information other that she is with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, she sent a book on the first call and a claim on the second call, and I am rude.
Received a call stating he had a delivery of cleaning chemicals that our Chief Engineer had ordered (not) .. GM had previously spoken with someone about this same order cancelling the order. They called again to the Chief Engineers cell number saying they had a delivery. I happened to be manning the cell phone as our Chief Engineer is out on leave and advised him that the GM had previsouly spoken with someone declining the order.... I explained that they have to have a valid purchase order and he gave me a bogus number, saying that was the same one they had used for the past several times I explained that the purchase order would be different for each order and we were declining the order and if delivered we would refuse shipment. He was very insulting and demeaning.... "What are you some secretary?" Hello, yes I am! I didn't realize that your Chief Engineer had someone making decisions for him.... I again explained that we were declining the order and to not ship. (Nice fellow - I had this conversation with this same person a couple of months ago... Charming Guy!! Sleezy Guy and Company!!
In support of Kristen's comments. This person called back again, a few minutes after speaking with her, and I answered the phone direct. Ultimately all the caller wanted to do was complain how "rude my secretary was". I made three attempts to ask how I could help or assist her, all while this person remained hostile/angry, and avoided answering my question(s). She identified herself as representing "Blue Cross/Blue Shield" AND then later in the conversation she said she was with "Horizon". This person also told me that a field representative had called my office 3 times earlier this morning, requesting to speak to me. When I would ask her who this person was and what the calls were about .. she would not answer me BUT insisted on ranting about how "rude my secretary" had been to her. My business phone records reflect this phone number calling a single time this morning prior to me answering the (2nd) call. This person also referred to "them" sending me a "claim". She verified my business mailing address, and angrily told me that her role for calling me was simply to let me know how rude my secretary had been AND that if her "field representative's" original call(s) would have been routed to me - then I would know what this matter was all about. Again, she would not answer my question when I asked her about the "claim" that she was referring to and/or the name of the "field representative" who had allegedly called earlier for me. I am unsure what or who these people are and/or what their "company" is all about, but it is clear to me that my questions were not answered and there is motive behind these call(s) that are unsettling. I have forwarded a recording of the call to the Sheriff's Office. I have also requested my nephew, who is employed with the Louisiana State Police, to investigate this matter as a personal favor to me.
This caller identified himself as Damien from Horizon insisting he speak only with the business owner and asking for him by his first name. He advised that he needed to speak only with him because it was in regard to an order he'd placed for supplies (supplies relevant to our industry, even). Subsequently he suggested that he had free samples and a catalog to ship, but had to verify with the owner (again by first name).
When I advised that he was on another call and offered to assist, he declined and advised that he really had to speak with someone that does the ordering. I suggested I could help him. He was actually mocking in his retort. At that point I asked him to remove us from his list and advised him that I was a corporate officer with the company - again he mocked - and replied that he didn't have a list.
After reading these other complaints, I realize that I had given our owners name to someone claiming to be from Grainger just last week. There have been several other calls from "Corp Office" in the last few weeks. Not sure what the game is, but I wish they'd knock it off. Our office is too busy for these BS calls and I feel like I'm getting scammed.
