Just found the same voice message on my number (MA) left around 5PM today. It's the second time. First time, approximately a month ago, he said he's from IRS and threaten me.
Got three calls today from two different guys with threats. same number, same "crime investigation department of the u.s.treasury". when he said that on monday their officer will come with subpoena and detain me I laughed at him and said that it's a federal holiday and i'll be waiting and hung up on him. he got mad and called back with more threats. looked like it was a bad day for them today.
Same here in Florida, few days ago I had a couple calls, same number (202-241-7811). SAME THINGS: A couple guys with accent (one of them with Asiatic accent). From the same Federal office, state, phone number and case number. Coincidence?, don't be fooled. Just report them as I did. Call FBI, IRS (local or IRS office in Washington or both), call the Police doesn't work and they are not the right department to make a complain. I just did not call them back because they are gonna "push" you to give information (SS, credit card or whatever they want to steal money from you). REPORT THEM, is the best way to stop them. At least, for now.....
Scammers are using internet calling such as VOIP, Magic Jack and digital phone service, hijacking legit numbers to look like the IRS is calling. They are using numbers from the IRS such as 1-800-829-1040, they will also refer you to call 202-864-1137 & 571-721-1319. DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!! I have been having fun making them mad and or answering the phone when I see the caller I.D. come up by saying "Such & Such Police dispatch " or " Such & Such Sheriff's Dept." These people are very good hackers, this is why it is taking the Government so long to find them, with the technology we have today the actual number used or where the actual call is actually being placed from can ping off a million I.P. address's a second. Remember the IRS will NEVER call, they send a formal letter that must be signed for. But it won't be long before that happens as well I am willing to bet. Have fun with them instead and F@CK up their day, more of us that stand up and do this, the more likely they will realize people know the scam and give up. Pass this on to your Facebook page, twitter and ANY BLOGS YOU CAN, tell family, friends and neighbors.
