The phone (landlines especially) is rapidly becoming a bitter enemy on a daily basis. Never have I recalled a period when I was so glad elections were over so my phone would stop ringing as I was this past year. You know scammers are becoming more powerful when nearly a month after taxes, they're hard at it using bogus IRS tricks to scare and dupe the gullible. About all you can do is to completely ignore any unknown number, and certainly don't return their calls. It's unfortunate it must be working since it's still going strong in May. These jokers don't have anyone to play with when you don't answer the phone, or follow their instructions. Turn off your answering machine if possible so you have a good chance at them thinking your number isn't a working number.
It's funny, but also quite sad people have been tricked into believing they'll be arrested courtesy of a threatening phone call. Since when has the IRS ever arrested anyone or the police call ahead of time to tell someone they'll be arrested?
#202-407-9031 Just received a call from the famous IRS Agent David Miller, and his lovely accent. He has a hard time pronouncing the words regarding the issue he is calling about. His lack of and use of the correct terminology regarding The IRS Government, except the words IRS, AGENT and JAIL is quite amusing. He Left a message that he needs a return phone call back at this number to avoid being arrested. Not sure which one of us here in the home he is coming to arrest. He called a month or so before and went nuts on our answering machine. Told us he was tired of trying to reach us and that he had no choice in the matter but to put out a warrant. So far we have been free the past month to go about our day life.
Please ignore anyone calling from IRS, Banking, Bills, Fund Raising, etc. If you feel that a call may be real regarding an issue. Get in your car and drive there office.
Wow, this is the same script I got when I received this bogus call. Same name, same foreign accent, same case #, same dollar amount, same threat. And when I demanded something in writing, they say no one was home to sign so they sent the notice back. They don't leave slips to pick up any letters from the post office, UPS or FedEx. When I said are you asking for Sr. or Jr., he says Sr., and when I told him Sr. has been deceased since 2011, he started to mumble and came back to me, Jr. Then, when I asked for a supervisor, this jerk comes back with a different American name, Daniel Jackson, but the same foreign accent, like I wouldn't know it was still him. Then the final stupid part is that he says that if I want to pay, I should go to my bank, withdraw the money and then go to either Walmart or CVS to get a government voucher then call back to do final processing. WALMART or CVS!!! Come on now.
I can't believe anyone could fall for this SCAM!! Anyone with a brain knows weather they owe the IRS something or not and if you do owe tax from any year the IRS has probably sent you so much paperwork regarding the tax due that it would fill multiple recycling dumpsters. If you don't reply to real IRS letters, and they will send you a lot of them, they will simply freeze you bank account, go after your income of any type they can find, or put liens on anything you own. You can never say that the IRS didn't tell you about taxes owed.
Believe me. Years ago I worked for the real IRS as a tax adjuster and payment tracer, and I never heard of them cold calling anyone about back or current taxes due unless they have first sent you tons of notices about the amount you owe. So if a David Miller calls you and says the IRS is going to bring you to court about back taxes tell him where he can go and DON'T release ANY information to him.
