I just got a call from this number, it was a man with a heavy Indian accent telling me he was the irs they're pressing criminal charges and God be with me unless He said I paid the IRS back taxes for $4800 for change from 2008-2011 (seems a common theme). He gave me the case number and sounded very convincing, but when I asked for documented proof all he could say was this underpayment could result in loss of my driver's license (?!?!), fines, jail time, etc. and I could speak with a supervisor to work things out. Had no choice, appeal, payment options, etc.  When I refused They told me that I could discuss this in court as they had filed a warrant for my arrest and the authorities were on their way to arrest me.

I just got the same phone call and spoke to three separate women who had Indian accents who all had the last name of Smith. They all claimed that the IRS is suing me for back taxes based on a "certified" letter that I was supposed to have received late last year. So I got into a pretty heated argument and started quoting my rights at which point, they hung up.

Just got the same call as you all reported, stating I received a letter, owed X amount etc...  The funny thing is that they insisted that I had to go to Federal Court in D.C.  LOL  My local federal court or IRS office wouldn't suffice, it had to be the DC Courthouse, or Risk a $75000 fine (vs the $2500 in back taxes they said I owe) or make a good faith payment today to put the process on hold.  Additionally, when I asked when the court date was (when I needed to be in DC) all they could say is "If you make a payment today of at least $400, we can put the arrest warrant on hold"  First, if there where a court appearance, a summons would have been served with court dates, not a phone call from some terrorist scam looking to fund ISIS.  Second, why can't you tell me the date that I need to be in DC, you expect me to just buy a ticket and go to DC today and work into the Fed Courthouse and say, "I was told to come here cause I owe the IRS money?"  LOL I don't think so.

Received a call from 202-864-1791 around 2:30pm.  Answered the call, as I do business with a few companies in DC - figured it might be someones cell I didn't know.  "Mark Johnson" was on the other line - heavy Indian accent.  Said he was from the IRS, and needed to speak with Dan something or other.  Played along, said I was him.  As with the other complaints, 'Mark" stated I owed over $4900 in taxes from 2008-2014, that an arrest warrant had been made, I would lose my drivers license, my bank accounts had already been seized, etc.  I played scared, and he then transferred me to his supervisor, a woman with an equally heavy accent.  She stated - and this is my favorite part - that the only way to pay the fine (because my credit and debt cards had been frozen) was in cash through MoneyGram.  I was to drive to my nearest bank, get the money, and stay on the phone the whole time.  At that point, I politely told her where she could shove it.  She proceeded to hurl some quite impressive profanity my way.  Gotta admit, I laughed being called some of those names in an clock-stopping Indian accent - then hung up.  These are classy people.
