I received this call just a few minutes ago. I called it back and the man I spoke to claimed that there was a Criminal IRS Lawsuit filed against me and that 45 minutes after we end this phone call officers will arrive at my residence to arrest me. Whether you believe what he's saying or not, in the moment his words are terrifying. He continued to say that my employer would be notified and that I would lose my job and not be able to get another for the next five years. He kept asking me if I had any questions and I said, you're telling me that I'm about to be arrested I'm not really sure what to ask YOU, but I will be calling the IRS the minute we end the call. He said that the IRS will not be able to help me because they've released my lawsuit to his company to manage.
I knew that no matter what I didn't trust this call and that if he asked for money there was no way I was going to give him my cc info, so I hung up and immediately called the IRS. While waiting for someone to answer I heard the 'while waiting recording' talk about scams and what the IRS doesn't do. This eased my mind because they did mention some of the things that the guy over the phone did.
I did eventually speak with an agent who confirmed that I had no tax balances and recommended that I report the scam to their website.
