I received a very threatening automated voicemail. I called back and spoke with someone with a very thick accent stating he was an officer and that an officer is coming to arrest me for not correctly filing my income tax for 2014 and 2015. I would lose my job for five years be in jail for two and all my money would be taken from me. I said ohkay I will call my attorney and he of course hung up.
I have also received this very same message each of the last two days. Designed to intimidate and sound official (but they still don't get it). They still think our government begins each arrest with an initial round of threats (and $$ payments) over the phone. Absolute idiots to be sure (but probably still making money from unsuspecting folks caught off guard). This is an old scam that had stopped for a while when the US and India arrested the group running the IRS scam last year. It seems there is now this new variation but with a different phone # and slightly different recorded script.
