Maybe then, you might explain WHY those letters often insist we call them, and then are put on hold for at least an hour (each call). After that the call transfers, we are asked for SS#, then promptly DISCONNECTED!
This has happened not once, but 8 times this year alone-understaffing isn't a good retort, the customers get the bad end of this, and it needs to change. There must be a reliable method to reach the IRS
A message about tax help was actually left....which is kind of unusual for these various off-shore (India?) telemarketers that have been calling me for 5+ years about medications (Viagra), credit rate reductions, etc.
Rarely do they ever leave a message and rarely do they use the same number twice so they can bypass call blocking,
Some woman with a terribly broken English accent said she was calling from the IRS and that I owed some five-figure sum. When I told her that I work for the IRS she said, "no you do not" and hung up the phone. Lol
I can guarantee you with 100% assurance that the IRS will NEVER call you about money you owe. We ALWAYS send direct mail. Always. We will NEVER have you call a 202 number. It is always our 1-800 numbers that we will leave.
