just got a call from a guy "Frank", asking to talk to Ms____ (my name), saying that my Windows 7 operating system has been hacked and he needed to "fix" it...Very noisy in the background....Smelling a rat I told him nobody by that name lived here...Wanted to know my name and if my computer was "on" Told him NO.....Told him I had a bad connection and I would call him.
Gave me a phone# 40-1-866-999-1487 from Salt Lake City....Called back and can't connect with this number...My caller ID shown 1-206-397-1126
I was just called by a woman with an Indian voice and she too was insistent, ADAMENT that it was not a scam and got very upset with me when I accused her. She insisted that there were so many computers infected that Microsoft was doing curteous calls. Seriously??? Not falling for it.
At 5:52PM I received a call from a person that said they were in India and that My computer would have problems if I didn't follow his instructions. After explaining to him that I've had no issues and this call was unsolicited, and I didn’t trust him. “I am from Windows and You will see when I direct you to my web site!!! (note he didn say MS) I told him no thanks and he shouted “FINE YOU WILL SEE!”
After which I searched the phone number and found the responses above.
Scammers from India--claiming some hoodoo voodoo about my computer---before he could finish, I told him I am a doctor and I have a special device on my phone which can detect brain tumors and if he doesn't get an operation right away, his head will explode... He became upset and thanked me and got off the phone.
