just got a call from a guy "Frank", asking to talk to Ms____ (my name), saying that my Windows 7 operating system has been hacked and he needed to "fix" it...Very noisy in the background....Smelling a rat I told him nobody by that name lived here...Wanted to know my name and if my computer was "on" Told him NO.....Told him I had a bad connection and I would call him.
Gave me a phone# 40-1-866-999-1487 from Salt Lake City....Called back and can't connect with this number...My caller ID shown 1-206-397-1126
Got the 206-397-1113 phone call and that other number starting with 425-406-9010 related to it both today and yesterday. Today the dude (middle eastern accent) said he was from first credit services. Knew my first/last name too. I told him I knew he was a scam artist, to stop calling me and then told him to peace out brother. lol He was probably like WTF? A-holes
My co-worker received a call from a man named Victor who said it was a leagl matter and was rude to my co-worker. I have no clue who this is he had an accent as well. I called the number back and some lady said "Law Office" but not a name of the office. I asked for Victor and was hung up on.
Received call from this number stating I was having problems with my computer. Like a fool I allowed them access to my computer. I watched everything they did, nothing personal was shown but I just feel like I was taken advantage of and invaded.
Can anyone tell me if this happened to them, and if so did their computer was comprimised? Should I check my computer out by a technician to make sure they didn't destroy anything. They man with accent was stumbling over simple questions. Lesson well learned.
Anyone has answers if my computer was compromised?
Received call from 206-397-1113 from man sounding like he was from India. Tried to convince me that he was from Windows and that my computer was identified as being infected with a malicious virus. I have Windows, and they have never called me. Microsoft sends automated updates to the systems with their programs, they do not call you. Plus they would probably make a public announcement not a person call. I told him I was unaware of any problems and hung up. Definitely a con game to access your system and steal information
