just got a call from a guy "Frank", asking to talk to Ms____ (my name), saying that my Windows 7 operating system has been hacked and he needed to "fix" it...Very noisy in the background....Smelling a rat I told him nobody by that name lived here...Wanted to know my name and if my computer was "on" Told him NO.....Told him I had a bad connection and I would call him.
Gave me a phone# 40-1-866-999-1487 from Salt Lake City....Called back and can't connect with this number...My caller ID shown 1-206-397-1126
I just received a message from a man with a very heavy middle eastern accent named Daniel Walker stating that I needed to call him back right away at 949-204-0993 by the end of the day (The phone call was made at 6:04 p.m. cst and so I am not quite sure what he meant by that. He said that if I did not call him back immediately events would begin to unfold. He then called back and left another message at 7:17 from the number 425-406-9010 stating I would have big legal trouble at my place of employment as well as my residence tomorrow since I had not answered my pohne. I am in the process of contacting all proper authorities as this is illegal and phone harrassement. I have no clue whatsoever what this is about, but I do know it is illegal to threaten someone over the phone. I have saved the voicemails as well. This is obviously some type of scam...Please report to proper authorities as well.
I have received a call from this number and and numerous others, sometimes they leave messages for someone with a different first name than mine, sometimes no message. The messages are related to bad debts(not mine) or business dealings. I answered a call one time early on and told them that person did not reside at my number. I feel like it was all just a big fishing expedition to perpetuate a scam on their part. Telling them to not call does not work. I've contacted my friends and family to call me on my cell and am letting my fax machine answer my home phone. I hope they enjoy the screech in their ears.
Got a call from them 9/19/11 5:44pm on my cell phone. The guy was very hard to understand with a very thick indian accent. He was starting some of the common themes in this thread...he was with Windows..not Microsoft, and my computer was having errors that he could see on the server side and wanted to help me fix. I asked him several times to clarify what he was talking avbout to get him to slip up, but then realized i was missing my TV show and hung up.
I got a call from this number stating that I had gotten a loan for $5,000 and I know for sure I didn't get a loan for this amount or any other amount. When I stated that he was harassing me and I will find out who he was so I could sue him for harassment he hung up the phone and didn't call back.
