I had the same exact message. I found this line is VOIP line, so highly doubtful in Seattle. I admit it did sound unnerving. I have no idea though how to make them stop??
HaHa! Caller (identified himself as David Grey) left message stating action filed by United States Treasury and my failure to respond will result in appearance before a Magistrate Judge or Grand Jury for Federal Criminal Offence.
What a joke!!! Even though caller ID says Seattle WA, I think call originated outside the US, probably India. Magistrate! HaHa!
Caller from this number left a message saying I must respond to and appear in front of Federal Magistrate for a federal crime. I am so done with these foreigners trying to scam those in our country. This is the second call of this type I have received. I did report to the IRS but never heard anything back.
"David Gray" (reading from a script w/slight accent) gets around- looks like NJ is the target today- note to all; The FBI is on to these guys- The IRS does NOT simply "call you" with this type of message! I plan to just ignore them, they are wasting their time....and hopefully it is costing THEM money. From reports, if you did get to talk to them...they would ask YOU to send them money to "make the Federal case go away"......we are too smart to fall for that.....remember the "Nigerians who are trying to locate us and "make sure we get our mulitimillion dollar" inheritance....once we send THEM some upfront money for the "expenses? I hope they read these posts...AMERICAN are not "easy pickins" We are smarter than they think!
