Same, reported. Robo-call saying to, "Regard this as a final notice" of my IRS debt and that the IRS would be pursuing a lawsuit against me if I didn't call back right away.
Rec'd call from this number today, March 26th at 1:36 pm and at 10:21 am. I have caller ID and don't answer if I don't know the number. No messages left. But thanks for sharing who it is placing these calls.
I, too, have been getting calls from (209)866-5656 for the past 2 weeks, female voice, perhaps Asian. From the postings on this site, it appears this criminal activity has been going on for some time. The calls I received were same type. "IRS has determined a serious error in my tax return. You must call this number to correct the error or a warrant will be issued for your arrest." A couple things wrong here: the IRS states that it does not conduct tax related business via telephone calls, I have not yet filed my tax return. What I wonder is; why does our federal agencies, such as IRS, allow us to be targetted by such criminal enterprises? When I reported the calls to an IRS investigator he advised me to not answer the call. HOW ABOUT WE FIND THESE PEOPLE AND PROSECUTE THEM/? There I go again, expecting the federal government to protect me. Futile. Maybe they are conducting an investigation via email, but are at a dissadvantage because they don't know where their emails are. You think?
The callers are located in a foreign country. Their government is not being very helpful in going after those who are making the calls. In addition, they use a VoIP service like Magic Jack and so can be located anywhere there is an internet connection making it very hard indeed to locate exactly where they are to pursue them.
I've rec'd these same calls also but being retired, I have all the time in the world to waste. So I egg the caller on. I talk about how I don't want to go to prison, tell him about my grandchildren going hungry, etc.
Last time, he told me I was wasting HIS time and HE hung up on me. hahahhaha.
