Same MO as those below but this operator was a bit dumber that some of those described below. I asked who she got my number from and she said the resource department. I then told her that it was the resource department that tried to infect my computer last week and asked why she wanted to help me with something that her company caused,,, the phone went silent and then she asked what number tried to infect my computer - - - duh! She offered to hang up and I suggested that was to her advantage.
Your selections below don't allow identification of this call as a scam or malicious intrusion but that is what it is.
I just received the same call, from the same number. They had my full name and a supposed computer identification number. I have Avast but was told that this virus goes behind the anti virus software thru the back door. He insisted that my computer was infected and that I was going to lose everything. Quite the scare tactic. I didn't bite.
Is there a place to report fraudulent calls?
Fast-talking, thick-accented scammers with names "Frances Trejo", "Nicole Trejo" and "their tech, 'Mr. Joseph' O'Brien" claiming to be from Microsoft seeking access to your computer to alarm you about malware and sell you "protection". Claim to be located in Angel's Camp, CA. No angels.
This is an obvious fraud, calling me about windows malicious program I downloaded - I have no windows computers at home.
