I didn't know this was a hacker at first, but some woman with a heavy accent called asking for my mother. I told her she wasn't in, I didn't know where she was, and I didn't know when she'd be back. The only information I gave them was my mother's name, and that we had two desktops and two laptops. They told me someone with a computer name who matched my mother's name had downloaded malicious software, and when I told them we'd run a malware scan, they told me a malware scan wouldn't pick it up. After that, my brother told me to hang up the phone, which I did. It's a good thing I hung up before they got a chance to get me to let them install their virus on our computers.
A Woman called from that number asking the same thing as the Man did to all of you. That was the second time. I hope they do not get some older person to fall for this scam...
I just received a call for the same guy trying to scare me saying that someone was log on to my computer from somewhere and that the person was getting all my information. He had a heavy accent, asked me to sit in front of my computer and that he would tell me what to do to prevent "someone" from getting my all my personal information. I told him I would fix it my self and he got upset and I hung up on him.
Just received a call from this same heavily-accented scammer. As soon as he said he was calling about internet security I said "no thank-you" and hung up. Caller ID said McGraw Hill.com
one of about 600 calls in the last 2 years to my cell phone. I'm on the do not call list and the scam call list. This one is a big SCAM forwarding calls from India
.DO NOT LOG ONTO YOUR COMPUTER AND DOWNLOAD ANYTHING like they ask you to.
See news stories about this. google: Indian computer virus scam.this has been going on for years. they even know who the person is in India, but they don't stop it.
For the fun of it, I asked what computer company and virus guard company gave them my name and #. Oh they cannot answer that do to privacy issues. I said why would I log on and let you give my computer and have you steal my information. she hung up. A minute later I was called back by 1-253-382-9903 with the robo credit card scam as payback.
Why doesn't our Government do something about this? the do not call list is a waste of our tax $. I read only about 35 prosecutions have been made. Why doesn't India do something about this? If these people work for little to nothing, maybe the police department could hire some of them to locate arrest the head of the call departments and stop this. For a small reward fee I bet these Indian callers would turn in their bosses! Sometimes I think the cell phone companies are putting the #'s out there to boost minutes on your plans.
Next time I'm going to tell the caller that their soul will have bad Karma for stealing and lying from people. It cannot hurt.I'm just afraid they will try and jam my # with endless calls like they have before.
