Called Me Too
Same heavy accent wanted us to turn on the computer and that they had the line open so that he could help us secure ourselves against hackers. We just hung up. They've called multiple times.

My mom got a call from these bozos today.  Wisely (and to my relief), she was too suspicious to deal with them.  She asked for their website and was given the besthelp.co.uk URL.  She continued to be suspicious, which prompted the caller to say, "If you don't trust this call, why not just hang up?"  She did so.

If you are receiving telephone calls with the caller id displaying telephone # 212 438-7895 please be advised that it is a scam. The scammers may ask you to call back at telephone # 866 539-8674 which claims to be a company," Arjunaa Internet Security". After interviewing several people the caller has identified themselves initially from McGraw-Hill. Once again the call is a scam and they want access to your computer and credit card and may be installing viruses in your computer.
Please do not fall for this scam.
The telephone # 212 438-9875 was shut down however the scammers continue to use it via spoffing on the caller id. We have put the number back in service only to alert the public of the scam. Authorities have been alerted and investigating further.
Please report the scam to the FCC. They will not investigate complaints reported by corporations. If enough reports are filed with the FCC by the public they will review further as per the FCC. Please report the calls to The Federal Communications Commission: 1 888-225-5322. It does not matter if you are on the Do Not Call list. It appears they are calling from India and the Do Not Call list is disregarded.
Also, please report the incident to your local law enforcement officials.
Thank you,
P.Powers

Please be advised that this scam company changes their name constantly. Yesterday it was Best Company. They may call back a number which the caller id displays 866 539-8674. Usually the person calling back is aggressive and trying very hard to have you allow them access to your computer. Once again, do not fall for their scam. They are not affiliated at all with The McGraw-Hill Companies.
Please report the scam to the Federal Communications Commission:

Got several calls showing McGraw-Hill in caller ID, with the number 212-438-7895. Thanks to McGraw-Hill corporate security for recording an outgoing message explaining the scam. When I got the first of these calls, I wasn't available to answer the phone. I called the number back because of the caller ID (I'm a writer, and listed in several freelance directories, so it would not be unusual for me to get a call from a publishing company). If the outgoing message from corporate security had not been on that number, I would not have been prepared for the call I got this morning. I immediately turned off my Internet connection and allowed the call to continue, just to see what would happen. These people are slick. They identified themselves (I talked to the initial caller and "the supervisor") as being from a company called "Best Help." They have answers for everything, and I can understand why people have fallen into the trap of unwittingly providing information. The Supervisor had me click the Windows flag key and the letter r simultaneously, which brings up a "run" dialogue box, and instructed me to type in "eventvwr" (event viewer). I was then to click on "Administration" and "System" in turn, and let him know whether I saw any yellow "Warning" or red "Error" messages. This would be proof that I needed his help. (Of course, I saw a bunch of them.) The next step was to go back to the "run" dialogue box and type in "iexplore www.support.me"--the execution of that command requires an Internet connection. I told The Supervisor that I would not turn on my Internet connection, thanked him for "trying to help," told him I was calling the FCC to just let them know that Best Help had called, and ended the call.
