I received a hostile call from McGrawHill.com from 212-438-7895 a guy with a heavy accent trying to scare me by telling me that my computer has an extreme virus and he would offer me a scan to delete the virus. He was extremely hostile and aggressive and when I confronted him he hung up on me. I called the number back and a person at McGraw Hill told me they are aware of someone hijacking their phone line.
I received a similar call a few minutes ago, apparently from the same guy -- heavy accent, very aggressive approach. The only reason I answered the phone was because the display read "McGraw Hill" because of the slight possibility that it might be business-related. As soon as he said he wanted to scan my computer, I terminated the call.
I just received this same call. It was a lady, very aggressive, heavy east Indian accent. When I told her her call did not make sense due to the fact I understood how the internet worked and that in no way could she have my true IP address she hung up.
NEVER GIVE AN INFORMATION TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE AND IF IN DOUBT CALL YOUR IP PROVIDER.
I just received a call from 212-438-7895 (caller id McGraw Hill Com) trying to get me to go to my computer as I would not be able to access the internet and it would become infected if I did not follow his instructions. He became very beligerant and I told him I would not. Asked me if I was primary user of the computer. I told him I would not give him any information. He immediately got angry with me and told me he was a computer technician. I told him so what and he hung up on me. Beware!!!!!! Scamming to get information from your computer.
