Just got the fake call from McGraw Hill. Never answered it, never will. Thanks to sites like this, more and more people are becoming aware of these scammers...
Scammer called my mom who was on her MacBook at the time. Asking her to go to her control key because there was a virus on her computer. She told them nothing was wrong with the computer and hung up on them.
I got that call from "McGraw Hill" this morning - a woman with such a heavy accent, I couldn't understand half of what she said. Something about a problem with my computer, and when I asked her which computer, she said it was the one with Windows (that narrows it a lot...) Then she said, "Ma'am, are you in front of your computer...?" I told her I was was not going to discuss my computer with a stranger and not to call back. Thank you all for confirming what I already knew. My husband said she was selling something - I suspect it wasn't that innocent.
