Caller, sounds like a person from India, asked for husband by name, then claims he is in the tech support dept and calling about a problem with Windows on my computer. Wants me to sit at the computer to verify his info. Scary SCAM!! He sounds like most tech support people. Wonder how many poor folks are falling for this.
I just received this call today at 2:59pm. Same number 212-545-8482. Caller ID L Hillary Lcsw. When I google the number. It also bought up this location Grill Hillary Address: 141 E 33rd St # 11D, New York, NY 10016 Phone:(212) 545-8482. I knew what the call was about. I told him to remove my number and that the number is under the do not call list. He responded with Why. I just hung up. I had previous experience with this sort of phone calls so I knew what he wanted to do. Be careful of these scammers. Microsoft Window personnel will never call you directly. I usually hang up because the longer you are on the phone with them, there may be charges on your phone bill.
I received a call from this number. The caller was a man with a heavy accent, and he said he was with Microsoft and that this was an urgent call because my computer had a problem. I told him that I don't have a computer to see what he'd say, and he sounded surprised and confused. I guess that wasn't on his script. I then told him that I knew his call was a scam and that I was going to report him. The caller ID showed "L Hillary, LCSW." That's a legit business, so I assume someone has hijacked their phone number. Run from this scam!
It's called spoofing and they hijack your number and call people to scam them. Sometimes they actually call the number they spoofed. Happened to us and it's horrible
The number 212-545-8482 has called my home 6 times in 3 days. Finally answered this morning and heavy accented man told me my computer was sending his company messages that my computer had viruses and was jammed. I told him I have McAfee protection so I better check with them. He hung up on me. When I tried to call the number back, I got a recording that the phone had been disconnected. The company name is L Hillary LCSW.
