Just got a call from 213-333-3206 claiming the whole "your gonna crash your computer" "using microsoft windows" "sending error reports" stuff. Told him it sounded like a scam and ended the call. Looked up the number and well you know the rest if you are reading this.
I received a call from 1-213-333-3206 at a quarter to twelve in the morning. I didn't say any thing, I just listened. About six seconds later, I just heard an automated voice say "Goodbye," and that was it. I called the number back and I just got the usual "press the pound key" crap to take me of of their calling list. Although I really don't think it does any good.
I got two calls now within a few days from 213-333-3206, the man had an strong Indian accent, said he was from "24 Hour Support" company, and they knew my name!
Each time I told him to not call me back.
Obviously, it doesn't matter...
Yes, everyone, this phone number is a Scam # and is a redirect from India, Do not trust any phone numbers from random people from 200 numbers unless you specifically know that individual. CA, has very few controls on their numbers and as a result they are used frequently for phone scams. I received one from this phone number about fixing my PC. I couldn't resist having a little fun with the guy, so I pretended like I did as he told me, Said things like Wow! I am so impressed PC Care/Windows/Dell, (the guy couldn't remember who he was supposed to be calling from) is so good at their customer service. Unfortunately, the guy did not speak good enough english to get my hint that I knew he was a scammer. I continued "You should have a medal pinned on your chest for outstanding citizenship." When he asked what two options I had on my screen (during which time I was sun bathing, not even lookin at my screen), I asked, "well with remote access can't you see what the options are? Anyway my two options are 1) get scammed or 2) hang up." He then tried to reassure me that this was no scam and I could talk to his supervisor, to which I said not necessary, as your supervisor is no less a scammer than you. I then regaled him with the philosophy that being a productive member of society is a far better and more rewarding job than scamming and ruining people’s lives. He never did admit he was a scammer, but I like to think that maybe something of what I said got through to him. SARCASM! By the way, I don't use Windows, but nice try, I hope I took up enough of this guys time to save other people the hassle of him having time to call them. I know! I do what I can for the betterment of society.
Same story in one way or another as the rest of you . . . I know just enough about computers to keep my head above water & most of my family & friend's computers up & running. A friend called to say she'd gotten a call from these guys. Long story short . . . she managed to talk the caller into giving her HIS phone number. I called the number & it was actually a working number. So I thought I'd share & see how they like being pestered . . .
Here it is gang . . . give THEM a call . . . 718 593-4198 . . .
I had a call from these guys tonight, and I had a bit of fun with them. The first guy "David" told me he was calling from the technical department of windows operating system ... And my computer was sending error messages. I must have asked about 10x what company he was calling from and he kept saying the technical department ... I Asked to speak with his supervisor , I got to speak with someone called John (Jonathan) jones senior manager (ooooo, obviously very important) I asked what company he worked for and he told me he didn't work for a company but the technical department of windows operating system. I just wanted some to say they worked for Microsoft :) they didn't even know that, I said to the guy that windows operating system was a product not a company and he got mad at me saying I must be really smart ... I then told him I just wanted to know what company he worked for so I could report them since I was in the do not call registry and I wanted to know where they got my number from. I said something about 'this is how things work in canada' then he started saying he was so much older than me ??? (what does age have to do with anything... Btw I am 40years old) very strange... At this point I didn't want to piss him off too much, and my young daughter came in to the room, so I quickly got rid of him. I sooooo badly want them to call back, it is better than tv, you can't make this stuff up.
'john gave me a bogus phone number 315-791-4846, I kept waiting for him to rattle off too many numbers but he stopped :( I know this is just a random set of numbers. boy do I wish He would call back, my husband would also get a kick out of this. Unfortunately this is what gives Indian telemarketers a bad name... Oh yeah they do it to themselves
