I started getting calls today Sunday Nov 29 2009 It was a message saying "We wish you and your student had a nice Thanksgiving weekend. we hope to see your child tomorrow"(then the automated message continues) "to repeat this message press 1" (so I did press 1) now I'm worried about it. Got 2 calls so far.
Here's how do deal with this... these numbers are owned by a company name Teleparent. I had to call the telco, LA Unified and two auto dial companies to track this down. It was a major pain, so hope this helps:
Keep a log of the numbers calling you and then call Teleparent. It also helps to have the name of the school.
This number is from a high school named Andrew P. Hill. They use this number to inform your parents about upcoming evens, and it is also the number to call your home to inform you that your son/ or daughter has been marked absent from school. The high school district is called East Side Union High School District (ESUH OR ESUHSD) The funny part is that Andrew P. Hill is in San Jose,California, and that they use the area code of Los Angeles. When you pick up the phone it is usually a pre-recorded voice of a girl telling me that "your child has been marked absent for one or more periods today, and if you have any question's regarding this absent please contact the school attendance". Then they always hang up.
I've received three of these phone messages on my cell phone. I'm going to follow the advice from the posting of November 2, 2007. This company is irresponsible to the point of being criminal. And if their customers keep their services after receiving excessive complaints, then they should be liable too.
