At precisely 7:59 a.m. EDT on 9/27/08, which was a Saturday, a woman calling from 856-668-4530, which is another number owned by Academy, left me a voicemail message saying she wanted to contact the debtor. However, she did not identify herself or her company, so I'll let the readers here be the judge: Is she a debt collector for Academy? I didn't return her call because I don't have any information about the debtor.
If any of you actually believe this (ACS employee guy) you are complete idiots. They all do this thinking they'll get you to call them now by sounding all sweet and sincere, just like a baby alligator. Look up the FTC Fair Debt Collection Laws and write them the standard fully legal cease and desist letter and send it. If they continue contacting you, sue them royally! You can.
It's definately a collections agency that has NO CLUE what they are doing. Why hasn't there been a class action lawsuit against this company? Searching online there are tons of reports about this company calling wrong people, relatives of the people they really want and not doign their job as law intends.. I got a call and was left a message to confirm that I am the individual they are looking for. Well I'm not and they still call..
I say we harass every Keith Dickstein in Nevada and Pennsylvania like they do us until they stop calling. I'm sure if we called every one on that list we'd eventually narrow it down to the real [***] head collector.. Send letters also.. Nothing threatening, just a request for them to remove you off their list. I'm sure if this guy started getting mail at home, he'd make sure his company would do a better job.
