same thing happened to me today. Told them I was at work (I was) yet they kept asking whether I had my personal home computer in front of me, even after I said I didn't. when I asked for the company name, they did tell me, but I couldn't understand what either the rep or supervisor was saying... I told them this, that I couldn't understand their English, but they insisted on repeating it over and over again. They didn't quit even after I asked themt o stop and listen to me, and I asked whether they understood English or not. Asked where they were located, and I think they said "Europe City" or something like that. Hung up on them when they wouldn't quit even after I told them a dozen times that I wasn't interested.

As for running scan on your computer yourself, some things, for several reasons, will not show up. But in this case, doesn't matter because it's bogus. Period.
Microsoft says they do not sub out work like that.
Those who have caller-ID, call trace, call-block, anonymous call reject should be able to get refunds from their phone companies since these features are useless against most scammers and telemarketers, as is (apparently) the "Do Not Call" lists.
With all the money spent on all sorts of unnecessary things, one could wonder WHY our loving government, our tricked- out tech-advanced phone companies, and supposedly (whatever) law enforcement agencies are seemingly UNABLE to crack down on thieves who rip millions (or more) dollars from U.S. citizens. (If one were suspicious, or into conspiracy theories, one might have a few thoughts on this...) (Would our government - or anyone in it - take money to ignore the problem...?) ( Naahhhh..... But no money bet about it.)
Maybe if the FCC quit being funded? Look at phone bills & how much goes to FCC each month times number of phone customers – that's a LOT of money! What DO they do with it?
So. If you get call, note what's on caller ID & date & time. Also call trace if possible, and then connect the Annoyance Call Center (it would be nice if they told you the number when they give you info).
Then there are TV stations (many UNCO-OPERATIVE), Attorney General's Office (which in some states seem to actually do something), tell friends & family, post on social media.
Why bother? Because if enough people DO something then they force laws to help do something. AND, if word gets around enough you help cut in on those b$%^&*(*&^% 's profits.
Push for really, REALLY strict laws for those thieves, both in searching them out & prosecuting them, with hefty jail time. (Preferably in no-frills prisons.)
Call came from 215-645-9874 at 1:16 pm 9/12/14. ID read "Pennsylvania." I don't answer calls like thisl especially when I don't recognize the number and there is no specific name given on the caller ID. I immediately go to the computer & search the number & fortunately find info on sites such as this. So when have you ever known of any computer-related company actually calling customers at home to render service - like they really care. Wouldn't that really be a first?
Just received a call from a heavily accented Indian man, he stated that he was from tech support and that there was a virus on my computer and if I could turn on my computer, he could help me on his end. Said something about Windows. I told Him I have Kaspersky and He said that this is something that they can get around. And I said it wont be me and hung up.
Shortly another person called after I told the first that I wanted to speak to and English speaking Person. He wasn't much better but talked faster. I guess he thought I would bite.I also have do not call and I think I am going to give them a call.
