Scammers from India telling folks their computer has been hacked and they are here to save the day if only you will let them log on with you to remove the threat. Told me to go to hell when I said I did not have a windows computer.
This exact same thing happened to me. They just called me on the phone a few minutes ago. They had been calling everyday while I wa on vacation and would not leave a message, When I saw the name on the caller ID, I figured it was the wrong number so I answered to clarify. The man (with a heavy Indian accent) told me that I had a virus on my computer. That he was calling to fix the problem for me. I knew this was scam so I asked him several questions. He couldn't answer who was calling. he gave me a generic name which was laughable. I continued talking to see how far it would go. I asked him if he needed a credit card so he can fix it. He said he only needed me to do a few things to my computer and he would walk me through it. I asked more questions before doing any of it. He got upset and started raising his voice. I then, told him to stop calling and that I would report him to the authorities.
These people are very persistent and could easily scam individuals that are vulnerable. I think something should be done about this. I feel bad for poor Mikaela Gomez I hope it was a made up name.
By the way, these people that call us work in call centers in India. They work night shifts so that they can call us here during the day.
