Yep. I had the exact same experience just now. It showed up "diverted call" on my caller ID. I let vm pick it up & it left the same recorded message. I've not applied for any sort of loan at all.
People, why do you answer unknown calls? Let them go to your voice mail if you don't recognize the number.
These are nothing but the low life scum of the world trying to get your private information so they can spam, or worse, steal your identity. They need to be shut down and done way with for good.
Once you answer your call, the bot dialer notifies a scammer who will then get on the phone. if you do not answer you go on a different list. Once the bot calls the number several times and there is no answer, they will drop your number. But as long as you answer, they know it's a good number!
Do not call lists are only good for those that do not show a number or any other identifying information. Read the rule! These scammers get around this by purchasing "routing numbers" that allow their actual number to be reroutes through that bogus number. The phone companies earn a lot of money off of the scammers!
So, as long as you see something on your caller ID, they are not violating the law. The law also says that if you tell them not to call your number, they would be in violation thereafter. That's why they use the caller bots to make the calls for them. If you stay on the line and wait for a scammer to get on, not only are you now placed on a "active" number list but, you have admittedly and knowingly accepted the call, again, they would then not be breaking the law.
The only way to get rid of them is to petition your politicians and tell them to stop the spammers/scammers and the phone companies who are giving them the tools to do this.
They are not from Florida, Texas, etc. at all. These losers buy routing numbers and are actually located in another country, not all but most. You can not track them. The only way to stop these con artists is to write or call your local Congressman and tell them to stop the phone companies from getting rich from selling the routing numbers by the hundreds! Once that stops, the cons will stop!
HINT, if your cell service does not have blocking, or has a limited amount of blocking, all you do is create a contact called [***] Callers. Go to your settings or edit under that contact, and block that contact. As you receive calls from the scammers, enter their number as a “home number”. You can have as many numbers as you want under that contact! Then when ever that number calls again, it will not go through!
I like answering these scam calls. You going to call me and try to scam me, then I will waste your time and do the following: Keep them on the phone to try and get their mailing address, ask them to mail me something to prove it is legit and that email is not acceptable is has to be sent via US mail. Ask for a Supervisor. Inform them that I know they are a scam, that they have been/will be reported to my State Attorney General (which I have done on one that threatened to arrest me), and that if they ever call me again I would file charges against them. When I mention that they have been reported to my State Attorney General or I would file charges against them seems to be working for me.
Same experience as everyone else-"you got approved for your loan"..."Go to www.payday.com and enter yor access code". Like everyone else, I've never applied for this loan.
