Just received the same call above.  Caller ID 800-313-0000. I am also on Do not call list.  I didn't give any information -but asked a lot of questions.  Answers same as above.  What can we do to stop this type of scam?  I feel for the people that fall for this stuff.

I also got a call from IRED Co. who want to fix my computer .In the starting i feel this phone call very awkward , that's why i take all details of IRED including their office location , call back number and their co. authorized pin from their agent and simply hang up the call. After that  i just check their details on Google and get totally confused as many users state them as a scammers and just few of them said , they did a good job by helping them out , actually i am confused just because that co. had a trust score of 72% which is completely appalling for SCAMMERS .But somehow i am not very much satisfied with the Google search and i called my friend who lives in Maspeth, Ridge-wood, New York which is just 5-6 miles away from their office location. And next morning he go there to verify them with some cops and luckily he found IRED office on the same location provided to us.He had a word with IRED manager about all this and clear out all our queries. After that i simply believe on them and ask them to fix all of my 54 office computers with my 2 home computers and 5 laptops and ask them to provide me their tech-assistance in future as well. Now all of my systems are working fine but i am still confused as i spent 8 months with their services but still felt them like strangers as i never had a chance to meet them and i spent nearby around $3843 on them. And all negative Google comments are making me sick again and again.Lets see what happens next.

My mother in law received a call on 4/19/2014 at about 6:30pm EST and Jimmy Brian of IRed, from New York state called, asking for Jim (my father in law) and said that he was calling for Microsoft and our computer was causing issues and bringing down the world servers.  He needed me to go to the computer and he would fix the problems.  It sounded like something not right and she gave me the phone as I am the one that understands computers.  He had a accent that made it not easy to understand, and he was talking on the fast side.  He proceeded to try to get me to go onto a computer here and he would show me on a site what was happening and how to fix it.  When I told him that Microsoft does not just call, he said he was not with Microsoft but with IRed and they were authorized by Microsoft to help us.  When I asked how he got the number, he said that it was coming up on their servers.  I told him there was not any issues here, and he yelled and I told him it was a scam.  I hung up on him.  He called back and started this call with are you the computer guy and I told him I was.  He told me the same things, and that he wanted to show me what the problems were.  I asked him how he got the number since nothing about the computers, programs is linked in anyway to the phone numbers.  He tried to say he had the right number and for me to go onto the computer and he would take me to the site.   When I asked him how I connected to the internet, as far as what type of service, what the IP address was and other, what the issues were, he never could tell me.  When I told him that we have a number of security programs that we have running and scan our computers, and that I know that there is only one computer connected to the internet, and that I know that if there was issues with what we have, that we would be getting messages, not phone calls.  He was very rude, yelling and told me that I didn't know anything about computers (I was in the Marine Corp as a computer Operator and have worked on and fixed computer problems for years)  When I asked him his name again, he gave me the name Brian, when I said he had given me a different name. he then told me that his name was Jimmy Brian.  I informed him that I wouldn't go anywhere he told me, and he told me that we would start to be charged for bringing down the world servers.  I said that if it was an issue with Microsoft, they would contact me in their normal ways, and that I would let them know that he called.  While on he phone, I got him to give me his number which took 5 different times to get it right - 347-305-0007.  I kept him on the phone and typed it into a search engine and found bad reports and scams all over the place.

John, if you see happy camper posts, they are shills for the scam!  This whole scam is all over the news and internet. Even Microsoft has a alert up on its web site. The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!
