@ lee, I got a call like that stating they were calling medicare aged people and wanted to verify my information. I said I was old but not that dumb, bye
Same story as everyone else. Elderly Mother was called by a heavily accented woman . Says she is verifying info for a medical card . Tried to get bank account info by saying We cannot ask for a social security number but need to verify by bank account info. Gives Bank name and Routing number and asks for the account number.
If anyone did give information, contact your Bank or Financial institution immediately ,They will work with you to prevent these low life scammers from getting your Money. Then call the Police as they can only take a report.
now two scam calls in just one morning. this one was trying to send a medical card, heavy middle east accent. Hang up on them, whistle into the yhone, tell them they will be visited by the sheriff of the county because they have called a monitored phone (and do not appear threatening when the SWAT team knocks on the door). Send them a blessing....."may the fleas of a thousand camels etc.etc"
Glad I found these messages.
When I do not recognize the number I do not answer the call and then find out info from site like this.
My mom died about 6 weeks ago and her phone calls are being directed to our phone. I have been getting very strange calls....hang ups, dead lines, robo calls etc.
Perhaps next time I will answer so I can make a valid report to authorities.
I just received a call fom 347-418-0487. They asked for someone by their first name and I said firmly since I'm familiar with these evil people that prey on others "who is this"? The guy on the one had a slight accent and said uhhh ohhh my name is..and then just hung up the phone never saying a name. I guess he was shocked that I asked him that right off. After he hung up I blocked my number and called back, but the number would not take an outside call.
About 2 mins later I received a call strange area code I picked up and didn't say anything and it was a pre-recording stating they needed updated information on my credit card (which I don't have).
These people have called me every day for over a month, sometimes three time a day, and I have never answered the phone. I am on the National Do Not Call registry, and I never get calls from anyone else like this. The problem now, since I do not answer the call, is that the calls are coming earlier and earlier, today it was 6 am. Who do I report this to?
