A guy named Peter called our house and asked me to push "Windows Button and R" and then wanted me to type in CMD. I stopped it right there. He claimed that he was from the Windows Help Center and that we had submitted a report to Windows which was not true. He also claimed our computer was being used for crimes and had been hacked. I believe he is the HACKER!!! DO NOT DO ANYTHING HE TELLS YOU TO DO TO YOUR COMPUTER!!! He is trying to get your computer's information and is NOT from Windows!!

A guy called (giving that number, 13474802300) with his telephone number suppressed, claiming and, well, "showing" that my PC were infected. Then he asked to call this website "www.infosis.net" to then start a program so that technical support could "repair" my PC.
Saying that I cannot trust them as I do not listed them as official Microsoft support partner, nor did I purchase Windows from their company, he then transferred me to his supervisor. He saw my point when I asked him whether he would leave a complete stranger into his home; so he promised to proof that he can clearly and uniquely identify my PC using the Windows registration number. OK... (I am still playing along.) He asked me to open the CMD prompt window, and to enter "ASSOC". Then looking for a line "zfsendtotarget; and he will tell me the large number I'd see there. Well, when I then told him that that is not a unique number but identical on all Vista and Windows7 PCs! (in case you want to know: zfsendtotarget is a part of the implementation of the 'Send to compressed (zipped) folder' option on the Explorer right-click context menu) Then the supervisor just hung up on me! Ohhhhh... ;-)

It is so infuriating. I tell you, in my life, I have had already 3 calls from folks who say they are calling on behalf of Microsoft Helpdesk or something arather. Today I just got another call and I will never trust such calls where they want access to details, especially from my PC!!!

Some Peter something allegedly calling from the PC support "department" of "Windows", claiming that my computer had caught a dangerous virus and now was in desperate need of their help. I was on the PC when he was calling and it seemed fine to me, which I told him. Ah but of course, it was such sophisticated malware that an ordinary person like me wouldn't notice anything at first sight. He insisted that I needed to purchase some kind of anti-malware or else my computer would soon be useless. He even had some personal information on me, but I didn't let that scare me since I was pretty certain that it was a scam. I humored him a few more minutes before I finally hung up - I mean, you've got to have a little fun with someone who tries to mess with you!
