He called and said he was from Windows Support. He said they had signals that my computer was hacked. After I'd been on the phone a while with him I asked him how do I know he isn't the scammer, he became very angry and rude. He ultimately tried to sell me software ranging from $199.00 to $399.00. When I declined he became angry and said "Okay, deal with the problem on your own then".
On 12-10-13 got a call from this number claiming my computer was calling his computer. Husband kept asking what he was saying b/c he couldn't understand him..I was on another phone listening in and picked up on what he said, but before I could say anything the man hung up. The call said it was a cellphone out of newyork. He had a strong accent. I tried to call the number back but it said "your call cannot be completed as dialed."
I keep calling them back {1-347-514-7822} and just laugh, they have now blocked their ph. # caller ID shows 000-00-000 but call the above number and keep their line tied up. The accent sounds like they are from India and in NY-USA
I have received two calls from these people now. the first one was a bunch of zeros. I played along irritating the person because I knew right away it was a scam. This time, it looked like a legit number 347-534-7822, and even said windows support in the caller ID. But, same Indian accent same spiel right off the bat. I just hung up this time. I'm not in the mood and I do not feel like getting in trouble for death threats I would of made if the conversation continued. That, or the very least 'hunt you down like a dog and beat the ever living s*** out of you'...
I'm considering calling the local authorities and seeing where I can report this. I doubt they'll be able to really do anything about it, but I'd like to at least make some kind of official report. I KNOW these scams are working for them to continue to call. It's sad really that they probably get someone on the phone who gets paranoid and they know very little about pc's and think it's real.
I've never seen a company be proactive, ever. no one should take a cold call seriously. If it's something you might be interested in, just hang up and look into it yourself first to make sure anyone calling you is legit.
