I got a call on 4/4/2014. Is this call from within the U.S.? The caller's English is so bad that I could not carry on a conversation with him. Is any government agency working to put these people in prison?
Scammers working out of India. US government protests every once in a while and every one in a while the local Indian police close down the call-centers, but they just pop up again. According to the Times of India.
I got the same call! They said my computer had dangerous viruses on it, I asked how they knew that. They said all windows systems have software downloaded to alert of any issues like this. I laughed and said "you're a scammer! We don't have anything with windows on it in this house." He then laughed and said "yeah, I'm a scammer." Beware!
Just a few minutes ago at 1:55 another call came in Caller ID said "New York 1-347-514-7822".(For several weeks this number calls every day - sometimes several times a day) Decided to pick up the 'phone and see what it was to try to get them to stop calling. Picked up the 'phone said hello. No response. Music was playing. Then someone came on the 'phone. I asked who it was - The response was "This is Steve". with Windows . Someone is trying to hack your computer. I decided to have a little fun so I said "Oh no what should I do?" He told me to log onto my computer and he would tell me what to do. I told him I had an IT Professional in the house. He replied "Oh" "Then you can ask him". I said I will and by the way you Scam Artist you better put this number on your do not call list immediately. Needless to say he disconnected right away.
